hey everyone.

weeeeeeeelll, i'm sorry for not posting, but there isn't really anything to post about.

but funny thing, i just ran into the choreographer from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in a store the other day!!

it was great to see him. =)

i asked what shows were coming up next year, and he said that a good one for me to be in was HONK.

HONK is basically the story of the ugly duckling, but different in some ways. i don't know yet where they're different, but i'll find out soon enough.

Violet's two shows, MathQuest and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever just ended. i only got to see MathQuest, and it was hilarious! i was singing the theme song for the rest of the week!

From what Violet says, BCPE was good, but it had its shortcomings. She said that hardly anyone in the cast knew their lines and the costumes weren't even there until a day before the show. AAAHHH!! that would be the biggest nightmare in the history of nightmares for me. but she says that there were two ADORABLE little girls (she showed me pics of them and they ARE cute!) in the play. i'll get her to tell you more. =)

it's veruca.

last night were auditions for Miracle on 34th Street and it was super fun (yet nerve racking). even though i'm almost twelve, i went for the part of Susan. today, i find out if i got in!

this is going to be a whole different scenario for me cuz i've never done a 'non-musical'. instead of singing an audition song, i had to read the cold script. it was different, in a cool way! i'm super nervous........ i'll keep you peeps posted on what part i get (if i get one).

hey everyone. this is violet, here to tell you about my current rehearsals. i am currently doing the play 'Mathquest, AN adventure with numbers'. yes, the 'an' really is capital. look it up. anyway, i am doing this show for field trips in the morning. it is really fun, and the rehearsals take place pretty much all day every day at my favorite place in the world. the story is about a fourthgrader (me, even though i'm not really a fourthgrader) who is having trouble with her math. as soon as her head hits her pillow the night before her big test, she dreams about a place called mathland. all the numbers come to life and show her how to do her math. it's insanely cheesy, but really fun. the cast is small, and i'm the shortest, and the youngest in the show. the crazy boy who played Mike Teavee is in it too. rehearsals are on a break for now, until the 27th, my birthday. (i'll be twelve) by for now, Violet.

the picnic.

hey everyone! i know the picnic was yesterday, but i didn't have time to blog! sorry! anyway, the picnic was great! violet and i immediately spotted the crazy boys and charlie. orange juice and Marylyn monroe gone blue weren't there. :-( we swam in the pool and swang on the swings and yeah, it rocked! we had so much fun!

the auditions for miracle on 34th street are on violet's birthday! october 27th! i'm super excited! i finally watched the movie and now i know what the play is about. i don't know if there is a part for a nearly twelve year old girl in it though. i'm still trying out! :-p. happy blog day!

hello to whoever is reading this! (and let's hope there's a lot!) it's veruca and i just got back from camping on sunday. it was super fun!

i don't know what i'm gonna do without willy wonka. and yes, violet you can still be violet... as long as i get to be veruca! anyway....... i think one of my favorite moments in W.W. was when violet first got her gum and she nearly spat it out onto the crowd.... it didn't really seem funny at the moment, but now i'm laughing. also, mike teavee accidentally dropped his nintindo DS thing-a-ma-jig and it shattered into nearly a billion pieces... ok it was really the battery case thing popped out and batteries flew accross the stage but at the time it did seem like a billion! and agustas gloop's tube that he went up in almost fell over one time and i swear i was completely oblivious to the whole thing. i only figured out it had fallen aver after i was off stage!! and then that time i stepped on my petticoats when i was sitting down and then i stood up... and they almost fell down! i miss doing that show soooooo sooooooo soooooooooooo sooooooooooooo much. i guess that means violet and i will have to try out for the next play coming to he renaissance center: Miracle on 34th Street.

hey every one, i haven't been on in a while, but the wound is fresh: WILLY WONKA'S OVER!!!!!! i guess some people might be able to do a show and then simply let it go. (hey that rhymed!) not me. i start feeling emotionally attached to the character i was paying. this is-- was (that was not put in on purpose, it was a real mistake but i decided to keep it) the biggest role i have ever played, so (Like Mike Teavee said) it means more. i miss every one in the show, but i am really missing the three other ticket winners. Charlie too, but while she was onstage, the four of us really got to know each other. i still look back on the first time with choreography/the set as our funniest moment. then, there was the first time Veruca kicked her shoe of during her tantrum. it looked so perfect, we actually kept it. then, there was the time in the middle of the run (backstage), when Mike realized he was supposed to be using a remote for an invisible tv, not the play station portable  he'd been using.

ok, i can't say it better than violet did. i don't know what i'm going to do with my life now!!!! i guess i'll just have to try out for Miracle On 34th Street this fall....... when i did the show Oliver! last winter (i was a pickpocket and an orphan), i thought i was sad then. but now..... i'm DEVASTATED!!!!! being a bigger character means so much more.  the pool/cast party at one of the oompa loompa's house was great! they had a diving board and everyone was doing tricks.... except me though. the best i can do is a toe touch into the water. anyway..... i am going to miss everyone sosososososoooooooooooo darn much it'll make me sick! luckily i got some of my friends' emials so we can at least communicate. what we will do with this blog, i don't know but i like violet's idea.

It's over. i am kinda shocked. nix that, i am extremely shocked. i am going to miss the whole cast so incredibly much it is insane. when the five of us (me, veruca, charlie, orange juice, and marilyn monroe gone blue) woke up, we watched some of a new movie that we had recorded off the tv, played with water balloons, and took showers. then, we got to the auditorium at one-ten. we had a good show, but it was tanged with sadness. without speaking, every one backstage knew that it was the end. (this is where i get dramatic) the four golden ticket winners were about to go out before the show, and we all decided on a group hug to silently reminisce. i don't think that anyone of us thought that the four of us would end up so close. before the show, the whole cast went in a huddle and shouted 'willy wonka' on three. like i said, the show went great. veruca dropped her ticket once, but that was it. after the show, most of the cast went to a cast party at some of the cast members' house. they had a pool, so the four of us golden ticket winners (and charlie and a few others) had a great time. it was hard to put the bitter-sweet end out of my head, so i decided to try to embrace it. it didn't really work, but it helped a little. before i left the ren. center, i made sure to take two of the golden tickets, and two of the programs. i think that i will spend the next few days writing about my favorite parts of the willy wonka experience.

ALL OF US!!!!

HEY EVERY BODY! if you thought that me and veruca writing together was incredible,  you are going to love this! we are writing from my (Violet) house, and if you are wondering who 'we' is, i have Veruca, me, Charlie, Marilyn Monroe gone Blue (an oompa loompa), and Orange Juice (another oompa loompa) are writing today. yesterday we had a show, and it went relatively smoothly. both of us girls remembered our tickets, so that was an unexpected plus. if you are wondering, the five of us our having a HUGE sleepover at my house. that is why we are writing so late...... or so early. Veruca came home with me, when we woke up, we headed strait to the auditorium. once we got there, we put on our Willy Wonka t-shirts and went out to the fire fly festival. it was a festival that was right on the outskirts of the renaissance center's land. it was BIOLING!!!!! 109 degrees F. we were sweat monsters! i (veruca) was sooo sweaty that my back was driping! the concert that we did was hot..... in both ways. we had a show at seven, but in between that, we walked around the festival, listened to some music, and played sardines in the downstairs. we saw some friends, and we stayed inside (IN THE AIR CONDITIONER) for a very little time.  we just did the second to last show of the run. it went well, we remembered our tickets. after that, Veruca, Charlie, Orange Juice, and Marilyn Monroe Gone Blue all came home with me. and now, here we sit. none of us can believe that tomorrow is the END OF WILLY WONKA!!!!! it seems like the end of the world. what are we going to do on the weekends? what are we going to do every night from six to eight... every night??? biggest question: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH THIS BLOG???? any suggestions? write us comments.

finally back from a week off! (veruca)

yo peeps! it's veruca here to tell you that everyone in willy wonka just got back to practice after a week off! last night (june 25), we started off by practicing what everyone is gonna do for the Firefly Arts Festival coming up tomorrow. we will only be running a selection of songs cuz there are only five standing mics on the stage. we will only be on for about 30 minutes. then we all did pictures so we just posed every scene in the show. now you would think that would only take about half an hour right? WRONG!!!!! we ended up staying at the Renaissance Center until 10:30pm!!!!!!! and practice only starts at 6! and i live thirty minutes away so i didn't even get home til 11! but we had fun anyway. it was just a little teeny bit hard to forget the horrible rumbling in our tummies cuz we didn't have dinner. tonight we have a show at 6:00pm so i'm super excited!

hey everyone! i'm just blogging about how violet and i won't see each other for three days!! aaahhh!!!! in fact, we won't see anyone at willy wonka for three days! the entire cast is having a little break time until pickup rehearsal on thursday. so there will be really nothing to write about for a while so see ya!

WE DID IT!.......... AGAIN!

we've done it again! WE DID IT!!!!! we had two shows today, and the first one went great. their was some stumbling with lines, but that was it. the crowd was really tough. it is a funny show, and they barely even laughed! during the wait between shows, we had a potluck lunch, and watched the movie Hoodwinked. it was great! unfortunately, i twisted my ankle during the break, so i think the only bump in the road for that show was that i did the whole thing limping. i don't think any one noticed. that is good, because we had a great family (that pretty much the WHOLE cast knows) come to the show. i think they liked it. me and Veruca both noticed all of the little girls who walk out staring at us shyly when they leave the show. i personally think that it is both gratifying and embarrassing. we had a reporter come and take pictures of the cast after the show. that was pretty cool!

hear me, hear me, this Violet!(before i celebrate, my last post was started a while ago, and finished just a little earlier)WE SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  tonight was opening night of the show, and it was great!!!!! Veruca and I both remembered to bring our golden tickets on stage with us, and i blew up just like a real blueberry! it was so great! yesterday we had an open dress, and it was kind of scary because the pipe that Augustus had to go 'up' in almost toppled over! it was really scary, and the whole audience gasped in unision. thankfully, every one was alright, including the oompa loompas waiting backstage. tomorrow we have two shows, and most of the cast (including veruca and i will be staying between shows for the potluck lunch at the ren. center.

hey every one, this is Violet! tech week was awesome, and we open tonight. yesterday we had an open dress rehearsal, and with a few minor bumps, we made it through. i get the feeling that this is going to be a GREAT show, and you should really come and see it. as Veruca might have mentioned, there is a video on youtube that is labeled 'willy wonka promo'. look at it, and then send a link to the show!!!

hey everyone! it's veruca. i was just blogging to say that opening night is gonna be in a few more nights (the 19th of june to be exact) and i am sooooooooo excited! if someone asked me if i was nervous, i would say no. i feel like i am almost ready, and that 'almost' will be redused to nothing to make "i am ready!" by the end of rehearsals! only........THREE MORE REHEARSALS 'TILL OPENING NIGHT!!!!!!!!

hey guys! it's veruca here. So, last rehearsal, guess what????!! everyone got mikes!! as cool as it sounds, mikes hurt! the reason: to keep the mike in place, you have to wear this special kind of tape and when you take it off----- well lets just say when you get the tape stuck in your hair it hurts like crud! sadly, violet wasn't there at practice so it was just me and the two crazy boys playing augustas gloop and mike teavee. but luckily the girl playing charlie was there so that was a relief!

SPECIAL TREAT!!!! this is veruca AND violet. this is a rare occasion when we are actually both in the same room with a computer. sorry, we said we were going to run the whole show... we didn't. we only got to act two. it was fun though. this was because the oompa loompas finally got their costumes. they all have colorful teeshirts, colorful shirts or shorts, and (the best part, we both agree) socks, and wigs. the socks are all striped, and they are wearing one pair on their arms and one pair on their feet. they also have wigs, which are a mixture of bright purple, light purple, red, blue, teal, yellow, pink, green, and orange. they are all different types, and totally oompa-ish. (I) violet got my costume yesterday, and it is really funny. it is a blue skirt with a track jacket. it goes over a suit with a fan attached so that it can blow up.  

days til opening countdown: 9 days (violet put how many more practices we have on the calendar.)

since i came out of a different arch, i didn't know that Augustus kept hitting his head. lol. well, there isn't much to post right now, but there will be when we run the show every night this week starting tuesday. if anyone was wondering about out schedule: 

June 9th- June 12th we will run the show once a night

June 16th- June 18th will be tech week, so we'll run the show with lights, makeup, and action!

June 19th we open, and then we run the show until the 28th (The Renaissance Center in Dickson, TN 

you don't realize how close opening is until you lay it out like that. we only have 8 more days until we do the show for an audience. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

ok, Violet has just told you what happened with the funny arch set problem. Here's the rest of the story: the guy playing Augustas Gloop and I have to go into the same archway to get to different archways (i know it's confusing) and since i sing my part first i go in first. but augustas comes right after me (now are you seeing the problem?) and....... well, he kept hitting his head on the part just above him when he was supposed to be singing his part! it was pretty funny and he came out late like......... four times! but we finally figured it out!

HEAR ME, HEAR ME!!!! hey all, this is violet. as veruca said, we are having an absolute BLAST doing willy. she also said that we got our set in too. well, what she didn't mention was the first time we tried to do "In This Room Here" with it. "In This Room Here" is the song/scene where the golden ticket winners first see the inside of the willy wonka factory. the tempo of the song is quite fast to move to, and there is this one part when the four brats have to run out of these arches that are in the set. (to describe the set, think Oh the Things you can think by Dr. Suess. it was originally used  for the play Suessical.) we all have to yell something about the rooms that wonka is pointing out to us. well, we have to high tale it off of a high platform, worm our way under it, and then run out from under it in the time of seconds. it is fun, but hard. we had to stop the song because only half of us were able to get there on time. naturally, the whole theater was laughing our heads off.

Sorry about having to leave my last blog unfinished.  I had to go see a movie! Well, just to finish off.......... a couple rehearsals ago this guy who's a squirrel was-- wait a minute-- just to clear you up on things, everyone was just getting used to the new set and a lot of people were confusified by the change from walking up imaginary steps to real steps and so on-- anyway... this guy who's a squirrel was coming down a ramp thing in the set and he falls flat on his face! well, he's good natured so he starts laughing with the rest of us. But, he's laughing so he doesn't see the corner of an archway in the set. as you most likely have guessed, he bangs his noggin and falls backwards. by now, everyone in the theater is laughing 'til their sides split. and as if it isn't funny enough, the squirrel gets up, starts walking to the edge of the stage and trips on his own feet!!! IT WAS  HILARIOUS!!! when he finally gets backstage everyone (including him) is cracking up with stuff like: "Hey, you need training wheels!" said one kid. then i said "yeah and a helmet complete with arm pads, knee guards and bubble wrap!" but this kid who was so clumsy wasn't mean about it or getting mad at us. he was laughing along with us!

hey peeps!! its veruca and im back from camping! i had soooo much fun. well, violet and i have been having a blast doing rehearsals for the past week and a half, so we haven't had time to blog! Running act one and act two has been incredibly awesome! i just got my slide (or garbage chute) yesterday and i tried it out! it's super fun!  the girl playing charlie got to test out her 'flying machine' for the fizzy lifting drink room and i'm jealous! :-) it looks great! got to go now!!!

hey every body! this is violet again. veruca is back in town, but i still haven't talked to her. we will have our first rehearsal since my last blog tomorrow. we will be running the first act, and we will have more for you then. bye for now!!!

so sorry, your stuck with me, Violet, for now. i forgot to post that we don't have rehearsals for over a week, so it will be a while before veruca and i have anything good to post, so bu-bye for now!!!! 

Hey! this is violet again. i had rehearsal again yesterday. it was great we went through all of act two, so that was fun. it was kind of hard though, because the girl playing Charlie was kind of late. hehehe. 

Hey everyboy! it is i, Violet. veruca is still out camping, but i went to rehearsal two nights ago. we didn't have the set in, because it didn't have any brakes installed yet. we would have been dancing on a moving platform. AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!! it was really fun. i got my inflatable costume. they are using it for the scene where i blow up into the blueberry. you might have seen the costumes that have a motor on the inside and they blow up and make you look fat. well, they were all out of pumkins (which would have been perfect), so i got a sumo wrestler. it is really funny. Veruca is so lucky though, she gets to fall down a 'chute' (actually a hidden slide). this is going to be a blast! we were only supposed to do act 2 yesterday, but since we had the lighting director, we got to go through the whole show. i was able to do the whole thing off book, so that was fun! i can't wait to have veruca back again.

hey every body!!! this is me, Violet! rehearsals have been great, we ran act 1 yesterday. we are running act 2 today, and i think we will have the set in. unfortunately, veruca is camping, and she will be out for a whole week. it's going to seem like forever till she gets back. it was quite funny though, when i ended up in the wrong place twice because i am so used to having her beside me at all times. it was also hilarious when i had to go get the two silly boys playing mike teavee and agustus gloop who had ended up on the other side of the stage when we were supposed to be going out on stage. i'll have you know, though, i was completely on time ;) !!!!!!

Rehearsals!!!!! (veruca)

I have been having so much fun doing Willy Wonka! Violet and I (Veruca) have been running ACT II for the past few days. It has been so much fun! Violet is doing great on her song, and she already has most of her lines memorised. That is way better that I can do! Most of my lines are fine, it's just my cues that are hard. The guy who's playing Augustus Gloop has been out of town for the past week. Sadly, next week I am going to be camping with my grandparents and little sister. Then we are gonna be off book!

Blocking Rehearsals

YAY!! Violet and I got to do blocking last night (may 6th) and it was so much FUN!!!!!! I have to elbow someone in the stomach, grab something from someone, push someone across the stage, and best of all........................
THROUGH A TEMPER TANTRUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Violet the gum chewer gets to play with nasty gum, hit someone in the head with her hair, and best of all....................... BE REALLY ANNOYING BY TALKIING SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a great cast for Willy Wonka and it is so much fun! :-)

Rehearsals on the first of May: Singing. (solos and duets, in This Room Here, Golden Age of Chocolate, I've Got a Golden Ticket.)
No rehearsals until the fourth of May!
Rehearsals for tonight: Choreography for the finale, and 'I Want it Now!'.

Why Veruca Usually Does the Blog

Ok. I (Veruca) am usually the one to do the blogging stuff because Violet doesn't really know how. "I am bloggingly impaired," she told me last night at rehearsals. So, I will have to teach her how to blog. :-)

How We Got the Name of our Blog

You are probably wondering how Violet and I (Veruca) got the name for us, and our blog. Well, here is the story:
We both auditioned for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I tried out for the part of Veruca Salt (the mean brat) and my friend tried out for Violet Beauregard. And guess what? We both got the parts we wanted! Which is why we call our blog Veruca and Violet!

Ok. My song is called 'I WANT IT NOW'. I am supposed to be a spoiled brat, and I'm supposed to scream! I need to take screaming lessons from my younger sister, HoneyBlossom.............

first rehearsal (violet)

ok, so you probably heard that me (violet) and veruca got into the play willy wonka. well, we've had two rehearsals so far. 

the first one that we had was on wednesday, the 22. all we had to do was do a read through, but it was so much fun! we each have a scene and a song all to ourselves, and then some little lines in between. 

the second was on friday, the 24. we got to hear our songs, and we ran through them a few times. veruca's is very funny, she's going to be great. mine is harder, when it's right, it sounds wrong. i'll learn it eventually though. 

so far, we're not sure if we have rehearsal tonight (monday) or not. guess we'll find out!! ;)
